History

The School was founded by Adoracion C. del Mundo Ph D, a special educator and educational psychologist, who continues to be the School Director. It was established in the school year 1997-98 and first operated in Magallanes Village in Makati City. The following year a tutorial center for regular children between the ages of three and five was established. This small unit was organized to function as a transition stage for high-functioning special needs children who were being prepared to be mainstreaming in regular schools.

The School has been successful in mainstreaming a number of special needs students in schools for typically developing children.

Due to the absence of expertise and capabilities in Special Education outside Metro Manila, in 2003 a branch in Region IV was opened. The branch was established in Tanauan, Batangas, a very much underserved city in terms of services for individuals with SPED needs. Since inception, the branch has served more than five hundred students with varying special educational needs.

From a single proprietor organization, the school was registered in October 2007 as a corporation and was renamed CAROLINA TANAUAN INTERVENTION CENTER, INC.

To complete the services offered by the Tanauan school, a preschool for children between the age of 2 and 6 was established to commence operating in the school year 2005-2006. The preschool is named PENLEIGH SCHOOL INC. and is established to be a model of inclusive education in the city. It is currently offering elementary education from Grade I to VI.
